At completion, on the back of a painting I write down the bits of inspiration that swirled as I painted. I think this is especially important to do in the moment of flow because I am a studio painter, but I cull material from my life and the outdoors. And if I didn’t… well my studio wall starts to get covered with ramblings.

Here’s a bit from the back of this painting:

Drip Nectar II : Net of Indra

Painted with Love and Abundance at Xian Studios in Berkeley, CA

Net of Indra
Infinity reflected as dew in a spider’s web.

“Where Stillness and Motion Meet”- Terrence McKenna in defining infinity…. my perception of beauty.

Beauty of this magnitude I saw at Big Sur - hike : Julia Pfeiffer Burns - Water Trail. I sat with my lover…. endless ocean and oceans of clouds in an awe of the universe that brought tears to our eyes. Some of the plants & stars & ideas went into this painting from that day.

Imagine a multidimensional spider’s web in the early morning covered with dew drops. And every dew drop contains the reflection of all the other dew drops in that reflection. That is the Buddhist conception of the universe in an image.
