Seekers and diners at Rosetta’s
“The StarNews has named ‘Amplify – Mezza9 Paintings, Drawings, Sculpture, Kinetics and More’ at WHQR’s MC Erny Gallery one of its top 10 art exhibitions of 2011. Justin Lacy’s retrospective had this to say:
With receptions that featured electronic music and stilt-dancing flash mobs, Mezza9 used all her resources to transport gallery-goers to Nebulon, the zero-gravity world within her multi-paneled s’fumato paintings where strawberries, jellyfish and skymaids all float with underwater grace through surreal skyscapes.”
Original painting in the window display of K2. A beautiful work of wax & acrylic on wood support. Spring 2019. Thank you K2 for over a decade of representation!
The Kress Building has been home to K2 Studio since 1997. Originally constructed in 1926, this architectural landmark was renovated by the owners, Rod and Kim Hubbard, during the mid-nineties. Walk inside today, and find yourself wandering through the building’s original window and door settings, suspended as if floating in air. Asheville, North Carolina

Circus & Samba Entertainment at art gallery reception for AQUATICA, a solo art exhibit by Mezza9.
The opening reception featured two samba dancers, a hoop dancer, and energetic drumming by Bateria Samba Cruz. This event marked the beginning of "post covid" for our circus entertainers, and was a huge success with a large turnout and also a positive community building vibe. Indian food was made and served by gallery owner, Anil at Lille Aeske in Boulder Creek, California. This is a beautiful nestled woodland town half an hour from Bonny Doon, Silicon Valley and Santa Cruz. It's the kind of place where people grow up and then they return.
Opening reception: April, 2021
Closing reception: June 19, 2021 will feature WILD, animalistic circus arts and a White Party, Open to the Public

LANTANA’S GALLERY Howe Street SOUTHPORT, NORTH CAROLINA
Beautiful coastal store located just minutes from the Fort Fisher - Southport Ferry has been carrying art by Mezza9 for over a decade.
The 9 acre park has a stunning location that borders both the downtown streets and the Cape Fear waterfront, and while the busy central streets are a Mecca for dining patrons and antique lovers, it's hard to turn away from the park's stunning open water views. The locale is a high traffic area for commercial fishing vessels and Intracoastal Waterway travelers alike, and a visitor could spend hours on the shoreline, watching the ships churn in and out of the mouth of the Cape Fear River.
Southport, North Carolina features delicious eats and casual waterfront dining, locally owned shops, pier fishing, and languid riverfront walks. Mezza9 loves to eat at Provision Company and to beachcomb nearby. A robust Gallery Walk is the First Friday of every month; making Southport well worth the visit.

It truly is a family affair! The Meehans greet their customers warmly and hold fantastic Art Walk Gallery Opening Nights every month.
Before you know it, you’ll feel like family too! The artist’s son enjoys a treat with Jim Meehan.

The MAKING OF Bodypaint :: Into the Wilderness promotional video
Stilt walkers Mezzanine Beecomb and Joel Dream during the Photo shoot for Bodypaint: Into the Wilderness. Sea creature and tree spirit stilt walker costumes and headdresses by Mezza9.
“I’m hoping that these creatures on stilts will bring some of the characters in my paintings to life.
I crave a sensual or theatrical exploration of the Wilderness, that vast frontier of our minds.”

Wilderness headdresses on exhibit at Body paint: Into the Wilderness, solo exhibition at R. Blitzer Gallery, Santa Cruz, California.

BODY PAINT : INTO THE WILDERNESS
STILT WALKERS
“Mysterious creatures of the Wilderness. One hazmat bicyclist circled these giant oddities on stilts with his retro marine light which created shadow play on the wall. A dancer swathed in gauze fabric writhed to life at the center of the gallery space. This intriguing exhibit brought the mystery of traveling to the wilderness of the mind to life. The paintings in the exhibit were works with jellyfish and flying figures all in an energy exchange that spoke to the feelings of nouveau cirque and to the oneness of the universe.” - Mezza9

First Friday April 6, 2018
5 pm to 9 pm
New Paintings & Nouveau Cirque Performance
R. Blitzer Gallery
2801 Mission St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060
Mezza9 explores the Wilderness of the mind, through large-scale figurative works and circus arts. She’s inspired by stilt walkers, contortionists, and the ocean in these new works which are watery landscapes, flights through air and landscapes of the heart. 'There’s an amazing vibration of color that speaks to Mezza9’s concern for the fluid and transitory oneness of the environment, plant inspirations, and convergence of energies between people and nature in a sensual and spiritual exploration in paint.
The opening reception is a must-see
with many theatrical nouveau circus surprises!
Zebras
20 feet across with varied, wave edge this painting has the boxes in place for creating kinetic and interactive parts with sound, movement and gears. The painting is built up from dark to light. The zebras move with their acrobatic riders in an infinite loop with the dreamers of the painting at its center.
Freedom Must Be
This painting is nearly an object with it’s 8 inch expanse from the wall.
Ascension features a woman floating out of the radio tower speakers that are like a pole dancer’s prop. This painting speaks to the power of music. The deer head is a nod to the puppet and stage work of Julie Taymor. Their are juggling clubs on the right side to symbolize the impermanence of life.
The use of s’fumato, softened edges gives this mixed-media painting an ethereal feel.
Drip Nectar detail
Reproductions made with care and the artist’s approval and embellishments.
Love Spirals
This is Drip Nectar with an accordion. Acrylic, mixed-media and gold leaf on multi-level wood supports. Fish swim from out of the floral head attachment on the female figure. Other sea life : sea flora, anenomes, and a hint of a mermaid’s tale.
